Air conditioner filters catch dust and debris in the room, and cleaning them on a regular basis can help with the following:
1. Your AC unit will function better. 2. Save money on electricity bills. 3. Reduce potential negative health effects.
How to Clean Your Air Conditioner Filter
Step 1: Remove the filter
Unplug the unit for safety, and flip open the front cover.
Remove the filter slowly (there is often dust you may not be able to see).
Step 2: Wash the filter
Rise the filter using your shower hose (aim the shower head at the back side to remove dust/debris most effectively).
An old toothbrush may be used to remove stubborn dirt/debris; avoid scrubbing too hard to prevent damage.
Allow the AC filter to air-dry completely.
Caution when cleaning air conditioner filters with water
1. Do not break the filter mesh (rinse/scrub it gently). 2. Air-dry the filter thoroughly. 3. Do not spray water directly at the air conditioner unit. 4. Avoid using commercial air conditioner cleaners (chemical liquids, aerosol sprays, etc.) 5. Do not disassemble the air conditioner yourself (aside from opening the cover and removing the filter for regular cleaning).
Step 3: Replace the filter and close the cover
Check to ensure you replace the filter the correct way (front/back). If the front and back sides of the filter are placed backwards, the filter will not be able to work properly and the AC unit may malfunction.
To replace the AC filter, hold both sides of the air filter as shown in the below illustration. Insert the air filter firmly, all the way to the back of the unit. If the air filter is not replaced properly, the unit may malfunction
